This week, we mark the retirement of Jo Dixon and we find ourselves filled with a blend of sadness and immense gratitude. Sad, because it is impossible to imagine Castle Park without her warmth, her dedication, and the unwavering presence she has brought to this place for almost 4 decades. But also celebratory, because what an extraordinary legacy she leaves behind.
Jo has been synonymous with Castle Park — a beacon of passion, compassion, and commitment to the families and children she’s so dearly championed throughout the years. For 39 years, she’s been more than just a member of the team; she’s been the heart and soul of this school, nurturing and creating a safe, welcoming space for countless families.
Her work, her care, and her connection to the children who have walked through these gates are beyond measure. Jo has always believed in the power of play, in the innocence of childhood, and in the magic that happens when a community comes together. Her dedication has shaped not just Castle Park, but the lives of all who have had the privilege to know her.
There’s no way to sum up the impact Jo has had, because it’s a legacy built on the small, everyday moments that make a real difference: the smile she greeted every visitor with, the listening ear she offered when a parent needed support, the care she took in making this space a place where memories were made, and the respect she showed to every child and every family.
Jo, you are a true Castle Park legend. Your influence will be felt here for years to come, in the laughter of children echoing through the classrooms, in the stories shared, and in the deep sense of community you’ve nurtured. We cannot thank you enough for the decades of service, the love you’ve poured into this place, and the kindness you’ve shown to everyone who has crossed your path.
You will always be part of the Castle Park family, and your legacy is forever etched in its history.
Wishing you all the best in your retirement — may this next chapter be as fulfilling as the one you leave behind. You’ve earned it, Jo.
With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes,
Ross Knaggs, Headteacher and Team Castle Park
