The school day starts at 8.50 a.m. and normally finishes at 3.15 p.m. The exception to this is at the end of each full term (i.e. at Christmas, Easter and end of the summer term) when the school closes at 2.00 p.m. The school day finishes at 3.20 p.m. for children in the school nursery.
Children who arrive after the close of registration at 9.10 a.m. but before 9.30 a.m. will be recorded as being late in line with the School’s Attendance Policy.
Please telephone the School Office by 9.00 a.m. on any day that your child will be absent due to illness, or any other reason, in order to allow the school to update the register. If the school is not informed of a child’s absence, the parent will be contacted by text message requesting that they contact the School Office to explain why their child is absent.
If a parent is going to be late collecting their child at the end of the school day, or they have made arrangements for another adult to collect their child, the parent should inform the class teacher or School Office of the changed arrangements.
Assemblies are held each day. There is a Celebration Assembly each Monday morning, where Stars of the Week, special achievements and the school value of the half term are celebrated. Good attendance awards and house points are also awarded. KS1 and KS2 have Sing Time assemblies each week when the children learn new seasonal songs. Each class presents an assembly once a year to share their learning with parents and family. Friday afternoon assembly includes special visitors to the school, e.g. Community Police Officer, local clergy as well as special fundraising celebrations such as Children in Need, Sport Relief, Boxes of Hope and the annual Poppy Appeal. Assemblies may take place in classrooms, departments or in the school hall.
All children have a playtime break in the morning and children in Key Stage 1 have a break in the afternoon. Lunchtimes are timetabled for one hour between 11.45 a.m. and 1.15 p.m. e.g. Upper KS2 have their lunchtime from 12.15 – 1.15 p.m.
